This beautiful fast-growing, fan-shaped leaves palm, whose stem is surrounded by thick fibers, is extremely resistant to cold and snow and is snow and frost tolerated. In optimal conditions it develops 6 to 8 leaves per year.
Origin: Its natural habitat is between southern China and southern Japan. The palm itself grows in the snowy Himalayas at a height of 2.400 m.
Propagation: Sowing the seeds at home is possible all year-round. Put the seed for about one night in room temperature water to swell. Then place the seeds in moist soil in about 1 cm deep and keep them constantly moistured. At a temperature of 20 ° -25 ° C degrees seed will germinate from 2 to 6 weeks.
Place / Light: Bright and sunny spaces are perfect. Palm grows in autumn shade too, but slower.
Care: In the summer, keep the soil always moist, but avoid waterlogging it. From March to October every two weeks you must provide the palm with liquid fertilizer for bonsai. The most suitable is heavy, nutrient-rich clay soil.
Hibernation: Due to dry air in the apartment, you should spray the palm leaves (otherwise their edges turn brown), and water it a little bit. If you keep the tree outdoors, you should protect the roots and keep them safe. If the winter was dark, it’s better to put the palm in semi-shady place in sping, to avoid burning the leaves.
