Rockwool is the most widely used inert substrate in commercial agriculture and hobby cultivation. It does not contain any nutrients and its advantage is the ability to retain around 80% of water and around 15% of air.
The right growing rockwool cannot be too hard, because then the roots have to use a lot of energy to grow through it. Too soft rockwool retains too much water and is not very stable. Basalt wool with a horizontal structure, which ensures a stable moisture value throughout the medium, is more suitable for trouble-free plant cultivation.
