Information: The Thai Dragon Chili comes from South-East Asia, where it is the mostly commonly used chili. In Thailand, the chili is also known as “prik”, although there are still many different varieties. The Thai Dragon chili is also easy to cultivate here in this part of the world; it is very resistant, forming a small compact bush and producing a multitude of peppers.
The thin, elongated fruits have thin outer walls and ripen to a brilliant red colour. They are ideal for drying and preserving. In Thailand, the peppers are eaten both when green or red and are an absolutely essential ingredient in a good Thai curry. They have a floral aroma and an intense, long-lasting heat. They also make fantastic decorative pot plants.
Care: Germination temperature is between 22°C and 28°C (germination period: 8-20 days); it is therefore recommended to use a greenhouse and a heating mat. The plants need fresh, well-fertilised, permeable soil, and do not tolerate waterlogging. They should be planted in a sunny, protected place with at least 6 hours of sunlight - preferably more. Put the plants outside approx. 2 to 3 weeks after the last frost.
